Graphite boats are containers made by graphite and they shape as boats. The special shape of graphite boats allows them mainly used as carrier of silicon wafer in coating process. Furthermore, they are also common containers and carriers in many high-tech industries. We offer static pressure graphite boats, which makes our product advanced physically and chemically.

There are two main shapes of graphite boats: graphite groove boat (such as W two-way chute) and thin graphite boat.

Graphite groove boats are mainly used in vacuum furnace sintering process, especially in the production of cemented carbide and other products. Suitable for samples or materials that require uniform heating and handling. They can carry large amount of material, suitable for mass production.

Thin graphite boats are often used where precise control of heating and handling is required. Suitable for equipment or processes with high space requirements. The thin design allows the vessel to have a small heat capacity and to respond quickly to temperature changes. The compact structure helps to reduce heat loss during the heating process. Easy to load and unload materials, improve production efficiency.

Properties of graphite boats

Resistance to high temperature. Graphite boats are able to resist extreme temperature up to above 2000°C. They can work well under extreme conditions.

Chemical stability. Graphite boats are able to withstand to various of acid, alkali and chemical salt. This allow them suitable for the manufacture of chemical reaction devices.

High strength. Graphite boats can withstand large loads and extreme conditions of acute heating and cooling. And it has small coefficient of thermal expansion and long service life. This is crucial for them to be used in industries such as semiconductors and solar energy.

Electrical conductivity. Graphite boats have excellent conductivity of electrons Thus they are widely used in lithium battery and electronic manufacturing industry.

High thermal conductivity. Graphite has a high thermal conductivity at room temperature, and its thermal conductivity can reach 2.17×10^6 W/ (cm·K). This allows the graphite boat to maintain excellent thermal conductivity at high temperatures. Under ultra-high temperature conditions, grafite can maintain stable heat conduction properties, which makes it important for high temperature heat exchangers and insulation materials.

Applications of graphite boat

Semiconductor industry: As the excellent thermal conductivity and resistance of high temperature. Graphite boats are widely used in high temperature treatment processes. Such as thermal diffusion and oxidation. The single crystal graphite boats can ensure the temperature stability and uniform heat distribution of silicon wafers during processing, thereby improving product quality and process efficiency.

Solar energy industry: Graphite boats are a key component in the manufacture of solar cells and glass products. They can carry and transport silicon wafers during high-temperature processes such as PECVD (plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition), diffusion, and etching. They improve solar energy conversion efficiency.

Chemical reaction device: Graphite boats can work as a container carrying reactants to ensure the smooth progress of chemical reaction.

Lithium battery industry: Graphite boats are also common in manufacture of electrode materials. They can improve the performance and safety of lithium batteries.

In addition, graphite boats are also useful in following areas:

Carrier for materials: graphite boat plays a role in carrying materials which are treated in forno a vuoto or high temperature furnace. These materials may be raw materials used in the production of cemented carbide. Or other materials that need to be handled at high temperatures.

Sample protection: In laboratory or industrial production, graphite boats are often used for sample storage, transfer and treatment. Its stable chemical properties and high temperature resistance help protect samples from contamination and damage.

What’s more, to enhance the performance of graphite boats, there are some composed materials are added into the manufacturing process. For example, epoxy graphite.

Epoxy graphite is a composite material of graphite. It is composed of graphite and epoxy resin through a special process. This material not only inherits the characteristics of graphite such as high temperature resistance and good electrical conductivity, but also improves the overall strength and corrosion resistance of the material through the addition of epoxy resin. In some applications of graphite boats, especially those requiring large loads or highly corrosive environments, the graphite epoxy boat bottom is used as a reinforced structure to improve the durability and service life of boats.
