UHP graphite electrode is mainly used for smelting scrap steel in eaf steelmaking production. As a high-temperature resistant conductor, it can easily melt various high-melting-point alloys in the arc temperature zone (up to 3000-6000 °C ) in the electric arc furnace connected to a three-phase transformer.
UHP graphite electrodes can also be used in ladle refining furnaces, continuous casting and other processes. The purpose of refining is to improve the quality of steel. This process uses the arc generated between the electrode and the molten steel to heat the electric arc furnace steelmaking. The resistivity of UHP graphite electrode is the lowest among all electrode types. This means that it can pass higher density current without breaking or deforming during arc furnace smelting.
